We offer a job for technical assistance with a salary between 800.000 and 900.000 chilean $ (depending on previous experience of the candidate). The candidate should be a biologist, biotechnologist, biochemist or similar. He/she will be involved in a project aimed at developing a cellular biosensor to diagnose monopolar depression versus bipolar disorder (in its depressive phase). For this, we are developing a cellular sensor that detects pro-inflammatory cargo (proteins, miRNAs) present in extracellular vesicles derived from the plasma of these patients. In addition, Raman spectroscopy will be applied to the vesicle samples. We plan to advance with machine learning and to end up with diagnostic prototypes.

Working place: Centro de Investigación e Innovación Biomédica, Universidad de los Andes, Av La Plaza 2501, Santiago, Las Condes, Región Metropolitana.

Research objective: The objective of the work and research is to develop new deep learning (DL) based knee MR image segmentation and analysis methods to aid early diagnosis, kinesiological prevention, regeneration monitoring and rehabilitation.

Job Description:

  1. Perform a literature review of the state of the art in DL-based knee MRI segmentation and análisis
  2. Perform a review of available public knee MRI databases
  3. Collect, curate and prepare data provided by our clinical collaborators at Universidad de los Andes
  4. Implement and evaluate the most promising DL methods on public data and Chilean patient data. It is necessary to have experience and a high interest in performing scientific research. It is also necessary to understand signal processing and deep learning, it is desirable, but not necessary, to have knowledge in MRI. In our group there are researchers who can provide specific expertise in each of these topics. Finally, we are looking for someone who has a high interest in learning, who is responsible, proactive and willing to collaborate.

Term and conditions: This offer is for one year, but it should be noted that within the IMPACT Center we have several research areas so there are high possibilities of extending the work, depending on the capabilities and interests of the candidate.
